New Features and Enhancements in Capturx Forms Service/Capturx for SharePoint 2.1
In version 2.1, changes were made to improve the efficiency of reviewing and editing forms. Please see below for highlights:
- Auto-saved Edits during Form Correction: Edits are auto-saved during the correction process. This feature systematically protects your work, in case a browser crashes or a network connection is lost.
- Ink Pop-Up: By default, the ink pop-up is collapsed to display only the ink image. Expand the pop- up to view the related ink author and timestamp. The pop-up can also be closed if it’s blocking the user’s view of another field.
In addition to the highlights above, version 2.1 includes:
- Form Navigation with “Next” and “Previous” buttons on the form review screen.
- Navigate through a form with the “Tab” key which will stop at all Capturx fields except empty checkbox fields and un-editable fields (i.e. handwritten ink).
- Undo and redo hotkeys (Ctrl-z and Ctrl-y)
- Thinner image of ink in the pop-up
- Visual indicator of drop-down menu for alternates or wordlist items
Known Issues – Configuration
Important: Only use site time-zone settings
My Settings/My Regional Settings/Follow Web Settings must remain checked. If this setting is unchecked, it can affect the ability to print and the accuracy of date fields.
Important: Pens and pen users must be defined in the Pen Status list
For accurate ink metadata related to author and ink time, pens and pen users must be defined in the Pen Status list. Note: To add a pen to your Capturx site, dock the pen to a PC which has Capturx Pen Manager connected to the target site (or sub-site). Capturx will automatically create a row for the pen in the Pen Status list. Open the new row and set the SharePoint user appropriately.
Known Issues – Manage Capturx Columns
Duplicate SharePoint column names
The “Manage Capturx Columns” feature lets users create a name for the mapped SharePoint column. Capturx will not prevent you from assigning a name which is the same as the name for another SharePoint column.
Unnecessary warning about synchronization
When you are finished mapping Capturx forms field to SharePoint columns, Capturx will recommend that you synchronize the new mapping to previously uploaded forms. This warning will display even if your users have not yet uploaded any forms – please disregard the warning in this scenario.
Known Issues – Ink Metadata
“First Ink Time” is the last ink time from the first upload
Capturx makes available a “First Ink Time” SharePoint column. For each uploaded form, the column should contain the timestamp for the first ink written on that form. In v2.1, the column contains the timestamp for the last ink written on the form – from when the form was uploaded for the first time.
Known Issues – Navigation
250 form maximum for Next and Previous buttons
A maximum of 250 forms before and after the current form will be available when you click on the “Next” and “Previous” buttons. To navigate to the next batch of forms, please return to the list view and select a form to edit.
Next form and Previous form only apply to first 3,000 items in list view
The “Next” and “Previous” buttons will not be available if the current form is not within the first 3,000 items (forms) in your list view. Please sort or filter your list view, so that the forms you want to edit are within the first 3,000 items.
Known Issues – Autosave
Unexpected auto recover error message
If you repeatedly encounter the “Capturx is unable to recover your edits” error message, you may need to clear your Silverlight local store. To do so: open any form in edit mode (Silverlight), right click and choose the “Silverlight” menu, on the Application Storage tab – select the URL for your Capturx site, click the Delete button, and Yes on the confirmation page.
