Full Issue/Question
What data security does iOS provide for Capturx data saved locally on my iPad?
Solution/Answer
iPads have built-in security through device passcodes and 256-bit AES hardware encryption. All files are automatically encrypted at rest on an iPad. To add security, it is common for companies to use a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution. With an MDM solution, lost or stolen iPads can be wiped remotely. For example, a company can set a policy for a local wipe after a certain number of failed passcode attempts. Remote wipes can also be configured using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or a Mac OS X Lion server. Specific to Capturx, once form data is uploaded to a Capturx server, it is deleted from the iPad’s local storage. Data uploads to Adapx-hosted Capturx servers are secured via SSL (HTTPS).
